The Shot You Should Have Forgot - Black Discharge With Frequent Cramps

Hi, I’m asking this for my wife. She had a baby about 6 months ago, and since then she has had a lot of black discharge and an unusually high amount of cramps. Her menstrual cycle has not been regular whatsoever. It fluctuates from about every 1-2 weeks; which to me is really often. I am a little concerned about this. Neither she nor I can afford medical care at the moment, and we would like to know if this something that we should be concerned about. She had a birth control shot shortly after the child was born, but it was the one you were supposed to get every 3 months and she has not had it since early January or late December.
